Fall 2017 Opportunity - Recruiting Mentors for Fall 2017, starts in September.

Are you available on Saturday mornings (or some weekday evenings)? Do you want to make a difference in the lives of Hartford teens and young adults? Just 2 hours of your time, either weekly or just once or twice a month can make a big difference. Working together, we can support the dreams of Hartford's rising leaders. Homework help and studying is done one-on-one at the 95 Park Street Center for Latino Progress offices and classrooms, just one flat mile from Downtown.

The Center for Latino Progress - CPRF is increasing our weekly homework help and studying group this spring starting in early March. Each week we send out an email to pair mentors and students on school subjects on Saturdays (between 9am-1pm). The students come in for 2 hours (sometimes 4 hours) to work on a homework assignment, study for a test, or work on SAT prep.

If you want to get involved, email your contact information to Tony Cherolis (tony_cherolis@ctprf.org) . Include the subjects that you are most comfortable working with (examples - algebra, essays, college applications and scholarships, pre-calculus, chemistry, biology, Spanish, etc). We'll put you on the outreach list. Each week we send out a mentor request (with time slots and subjects). Mentors respond by email (or text message) and meet to work one-on-one on Saturday. Some of the pairings are recurring, so you may be meeting with the same student each week. You don’t have to be available every Saturday to sign up. One Saturday a month is fine.

Mission Statement

Its mission is to advance the social and economic conditions of the community at large, with emphasis on Hispanics through: education, training, supportive services, leadership development, and advocacy.

Description

CPRF's role is to offer culturally competent services and programs that foster individual and community growth, and create economic opportunities for all. To reach these goals, CPRF has created models of contextualized vocational programs, comprehensive support services, and re-entry alternatives.
