The VAST Job Coach will work One-to-One with men seeking employment. An initial evaluation of the person’s background, capabilities, desires and challenges must be accurately completed. Once this portrait is developed, the Job Coach will assist the Job Seeker in developing a Plan of Action that will allow them to obtain a minimum of living wage employment. The Plan of Action must be originated by the Job Seeker, who must then take full responsibility for its success. The Job Coach’s role is support, guidance and encouragement. It is critical for the Job Coach to ensure that the Job Seeker is fully committed to the process and that the Job Seeker demonstrates this commitment by taking the initiative in the job search.

Specific Duties:

  • Conduct an initial evaluation
  • Foster a spirit of teamwork with the Job Seeker
  • Guide the development of the Plan of Action, to be written by the Job Seeker
  • Follow Up with the Job Seeker at all critical points of the Plan of Action
  • Provide leadership, encouragement and support to the Job Seeker throughout the job search
  • Celebrate the successes and shortcomings of the process with the Job Seeker, treating both equally to ensure that the Job Seeker understands the difficulty of the process but that they are not doing it alone!
