LGR is currently seeking applications for board members: This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about LGR’s mission and who has a track record of board leadership. Board Members have achieved leadership stature in recovery, business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector. His/her accomplishments will allow him/her to attract other well-qualified, high-performing Board Members.
Qualifications: Ideal candidates will possess three or more of the following qualifications:
-Knowledge and/or experience with the addictions/recovery community HIGHLY preferred
-Experience working with non-profits and supporting functions of: grant writing/fundraising - partnerships with foundations in Lorain and Cuyahoga County highly preferred
-Law Background - dealing with non-profit and/or human service organizations
-Financial/Bookkeeping Experience - understanding of non-profit functions
-Relationships with corporations and community organizations in the surrounding Lorain/Cuyahoga counties, to establish and support community and corporate partnerships
-Marketing and PR
Board Member Responsibilities:
Outreach: connect with the external community to promote the organization’s mission, values, and programs (e.g., through recruiting new board members, volunteers, and donors; expanding the organization’s network of supporters).
Advocacy: Act as a community figure head to advance awareness of the work being done by LGR.
Leadership: Demonstrate significant leadership capability in the community and provide that expertise to the operation of the Board and its committees.
Financial Commitment: Willing to make a financial contribution at a level that demonstrates commitment and sets a standard for others and is willing to ask others to give to the organization (Give OR Get).
Internal Controls/Governance: Help to establish appropriate checks and balances to ensure the organization is well managed and the mission is carried out. Serve as an active voting member of the legally constituted volunteer group which has authority and responsibility for the development of policies and continuing review of the conduct of LGR, inc.
Overall Support: Help to ensure the organization and Executive Director has the financial and human resources needed to fulfill the mission of the organization. Support the strategic planning process for the overall success of the organization.
