Help The Salvation Army feed the hungry!

Are you an experienced cook looking for a way to give back? We are in need of volunteers to help prepare and serve a from scratch meal during our weekly Correctional Department meeting in North Minneapolis. Using food donations provided to The Salvation Army, you will prepare a simple meal for the support groups, serve, and clean up afterwards. Volunteers of our Correctional Services Department are dedicated to helping men and women coming out of prison or rehab to successfully transition back into the community by helping with employment, housing, support groups, basic needs and more.

Location: 2024 Lyndale Ave North Minneapolis
Shift: Thursdays from 5:30-8:30 PM
Tasks: Prepare the meal from scratch, set up serving table and serve meal to guests, and clean up dining and kitchen spaces afterwards.
Commitment: Weekly for 3 months with option to extend service
Requirements: Volunteer Application, Background Check, and Online Safe From Harm training within 30 days of volunteering

Description

The Salvation Army offers social services and recreational programs with the goal of addressing specific physical, emotional, spiritual, and social needs of each family, individual, child/youth, or elderly person. Services provided include, but not limited to: emergency food shelves, school supply programs, rental/utility assistance, educational programs, outreach to the homeless, family and youth camping, community center programs, Christmas assistance programs, nursing home visitations, corrections programs, and disaster services.
