SEEKING VOLUNTEERS TO JOIN THE COMMITTEE OF THE BRAND NEW SF CHAPTER

Welcome and thank you for your interest in donating your time as a volunteer executive committee member of the SF chapter to further Women In Comedy. Your time is so valuable to us and we appreciate you!

MISSION STATEMENT

So, what are we here to do? It is very important to us that you understand our Mission Statement to understand what we are here to accomplish:

"We believe in educating, empowering, and connecting powerful, ambitious, hilarious, and talented women in the comedy industry with resources that foster their professional development and advancement. Through our online and real-life community, we promote the creation of personal relationships, business relationships, and mentoring relationships in order to advance and increase women's voices, presence, and pay scale in the comedy industry."

VOLUNTEER AREAS

Our areas of volunteer opportunity are ever-evolving which means our volunteers will always be engaged in new and exciting activities. Currently, we are seeking well-connected, organized, and reliable volunteers to help our brand new SF Chapter. As the chapter grows you will help grow its network and facilitate live events in tandem with our Chicago hub.

Role: The Head of Outreach, Media/Press, & Marketing

The Head of Outreach, Media/Press, & Marketing is a part-time volunteer position responsible to carry out our mission statement to empower, connect, and advocate for women and girls seeking paid careers in comedy. The Head of Outreach, Media/Press, & Marketing is responsible for outreach to the community as well as ensuring a successful turnout to all events. This includes social media, email blasts, phone calls, posters, etc. This person must ensure that all materials align with our brand and message and must be approved by headquarters.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

  1. Ensure that all public relations are in good standing of our brand.
  2. Create a marketing plan for the upcoming year.
  3. Create an overview of all members recruited in the past year and their demographics.
  4. Ensure that all three events are well marketed and have a great turn-out.
  5. Create marketing materials for all events, including member sign-ups and community outreach.
  6. Email blast all new members recommending the join our Facebook, Blog, and Satira. Inform them or our mission and what we have done.
  7. Communicate with local press to build awareness of our mission and events.
  8. Develop and maintain the best quality photos of events and committee meetings to Women in Comedy Headquarters for social media.
  9. Attend weekly scheduled meetings with your committee.
  10. Review Bloggers material to ensure it aligns with our brand
  11. Facebook: become a moderator for our facebook page and help us increase awareness and engagement of women doing amazing things in the community
  12. Instagram: increase our followers and engagement on instagram.
  13. Twitter: increase our followers and engage in conversations to draw attention to our organization.
  14. Outreach/Research: help us identify organizations who are doing similar work to us so that we may reach out to them for collaborations.
  15. Calendar: help us find female written/directed shows and events by city and add them to our online calendars in each city. Help us connect and engage with women who want their work seen on this calendar.

Our volunteer base is building and expanding. We are excited to be in the launching phase of the organization and this will afford opportunities for dedicated volunteers to become volunteer department heads in the near future as the organization evolves and we identify the top areas of need in our community. For now, we are asking volunteer event coordinators to help us replicate and facilitate events in various cities. Our opportunities allow our volunteers to help remotely as well if they cannot physically be present.

Women In Comedy is a nonprofit 501(c)3 headquartered in the comedy mecca of the United States - Chicago, IL. Our organization runs solely on volunteer efforts and donations. We are an inclusive organization providing free and low-cost resources to womxn across the country. Our motto is "Connect, Empower, Advocate."
