Do you like to plan events and parties? Would you like to help a Habitat family celebrate the day they get their new house keys? We are looking for volunteers to join our Dedication Volunteer Committee. This team helps us with our dedication ceremonies, which is the party we throw for our Habitat families when they get their keys. Each event lasts for 3-4 hours and if often on a weekend. The location can be in a variety of Habitat communities around King County. The family invites their friends and family to celebrate and brings food to share. Habitat provides a cake, drinks, decorations, programs, and hosting support. We also take lots of photos of the happy day.
- Help make arrangements for the dedication like ordering a cake and decorations.
- Set up and take down the decorations, drinks, cake, and signage.
- Greet and direct party guests.
- Optional: Help with photography for the event.
Training and Benefits: You’ll have the personal experience of helping to celebrate a family’s journey into a better future. It is the most touching moment in all of the work we do! There is seldom a dry eye in the crowd! You also get to meet Habitat staff and volunteers who have worked on the home and hear their stories. You will get valuable experience with one of the most admired nonprofits in the world and know you are supporting affordable housing right here in your community. We’ll even throw in a Habitat T-shirt!
Time Commitment: Each dedication ceremony lasts 3-4 hours including set up and take down. Some additional time would be spent before the event to plan and place orders. We have 10 to 20 of them every year. We envision having a team of up to 8 people on the committee that can take turns attending and planning the dedications, based on their availability.
