ORGANIZATION: Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta

Volunteer with Girl Scouts in Atlanta

We currently have a need for Program Facilitators.

This is a great way to introduce yourself to the Girl Scout world while mentoring girls in the community around you. Program Facilitators to conduct interactive programs with elementary, middle, and high school-aged girls in schools. Our programs address a variety of contemporary issues facing girls such as STEM, peer pressure, self-esteem, health and fitness, conflict resolution, bullying, diversity, healthy relationships, and financial literacy.

Each topic is taught across one month with four sessions (one each week). Each session is about 2 hours. You do not have to commit to multiple topics, although it is appreciated. Series will typically be held in Spring and Summer. Your first step will be to complete a background check by following the directions sent in reply to your interest here. You will then be assigned to one of our awesome Community Engagement Specialist based on your county.

Mission Statement

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.

Description

Founded in 1912, Girl Scouts of the USA is the preeminent organization for girls with a current membership of 3.6 million girls and adults. Volunteers use their expertise, skills, interests, and life experience to shape fun and enriching leadership experiences for girls, and inspire them to reach their personal best. Volunteers help council staff facilitate the New Girl Scout Leadership Experience to girls through exciting program opportunities: leadership/self-esteem, financial literacy, travel, health/wellness, science, technology, engineering, and math. Volunteers choose from several flexible Pathways (the ways that girls and adults join Girl Scouting) that fit their lifestyles, including short-term or long-term service working either directly or indirectly with girls, and they can participate regionally, nationally, and internationally.
