Board of Directors

Position

As a partner to the Executive Director and other board members, the Board President will provide advice to CCRF as it transitions into a newly independent 501(c)(3) organization. The Board President will support and sustain the work of CCRF, and provide development, management, oversight, compliance, and governance of all aspects of CCRF’s program services, fundraising, and administration. Specific responsibilities include:

Program Services

  • Evaluates program services initiatives
  • Evaluates public education initiatives
  • Ensures that all programs relate to the CCRF mission
  • Acts as an ambassador for the Foundation
  • Reviews outcomes and performance metrics created by CCRF for evaluating its impact, and regularly measures its performance and effectiveness using those metrics

Fundraising

  • Oversees direct response fundraising initiatives
  • Oversees electronic marketing initiatives
  • Oversees grant initiatives
  • Identifies and cultivates major individual donors, corporate, and/or foundation gifts
  • Collaborates with the Executive Director to generate substantial annual revenue and fosters CCRF’s overall financial health
  • Personally treats CCRF as a top philanthropic priority reflected in an annual financial gift

Administration

Board

  • Assists the Executive Director in recruiting board members, prepares orientation of new board members
  • Periodically consults with board members on their roles and helps them assess their performance
  • Plans, presides over, and facilitates board and committee meetings; partnering with the Executive Director to ensure that board resolutions are carried out
  • Recommends to the board which committees are to be established, seeks volunteers for committees, and coordinates individual board member assignments

Administration (Continued)

General

  • Suggests strategic direction including annual objectives
  • Serves as a trusted advisor to the Executive Director as s/he develops and implements CCRF’s strategic plan
  • In conjunction with the full Board, approves CCRF’s annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; is informed of, and meets all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities
  • Coordinates an annual performance evaluation of the Executive Director
  • If necessary, establishes search and selection committee for hiring an executive director
