Are you passionate about hiking, biking, running, or walking? We need your help to end Alzheimer's on the Summer Solstice!
The Alzheimer's Association of California Southland is looking for volunteers to help us with our newest national signature event, The Longest Day. You are invited to join The Longest Day Team Task Force where you will play a vital role in team recruitment and cultivation, as well as marketing and promoting the event in the greater Bay Area. We are looking for assistance with recruiting hiking, running, walking, and cycling clubs to join us on The Longest Day (June 21st).
The Longest Day is a unique sunrise-to-sunset team fundraising event to honor the strength, heart and endurance of those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. Held on June 20, the summer solstice, teams will complete 16 hours of an activity of their choice to raise awareness and funds for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Mission Statement
To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health
Description
In 1979, Jerome H. Stone and representatives from several family support groups met with the National Institute on Aging to explore the value of a national, independent, nonprofit organization to complement federal efforts surrounding Alzheimer's disease. That meeting resulted in the April 10, 1980, formation of the Alzheimer's Association with Mr. Stone as founding president.
Today, the Association reaches millions of people affected by Alzheimer’s across the globe through our national office and chapters in communities nationwide. We are the world’s leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support and research.
