We need your help! SEARCH operates a group home for 8 high-functioning, mentally-challenged adults in Mount Jackson, VA. To help cover the costs associated with the group home, SEARCH also operates a thrift store. The thrift shop relies entirely on donations and all proceeds from the thrift shop go to support the group home. The thrift store also provides a source of low cost, quality clothes, furniture, housewares, and other items to members of the community.

The thrift store is run almost entirely by volunteers. This is a big job and we need more help. Volunteers are needed for the following positions:

Cashiers -- help open and close the Store, greet customers, run the register, put prices on goods, and stock and straighten up the Store.

Backroom crew -- sort donated items, store off-season merchandise, put prices on goods, remove outdated merchandise from the sales floor, and stock and straighten up the Store.

Donation pick-up -- help on an as-needed basis with furniture and other donation pickups.

Trash hauling -- take the trash trailer to the county landfill once a week to dump the week’s trash.

Volunteers can work as much or as little as they want. There is no requirement to devote a minimum amount of time, or come in every week. Most volunteers work no more than 4 hours at a time. Volunteers get a $3 credit at the Thrift Store, good on that day only, each time they work.
