St. Francis House, New England's largest day shelter for the poor and homeless, is seeking volunteers willing to make a weekly commitment to serve guests in our Resource Center. The Resource Center space is a general support and waiting area which often serves as a hub from where guests receive a variety of information and access to services. Together, staff and volunteers facilitate the flow of guests, direct guests to appropriate service locations in the building, and provide access to showers, hygiene products, phones, and computers.

Essential duties include:

  • Ensuring a welcoming environment where guests can access information and resources
  • Developing positive relationships with guests
  • Maintaining and managing lists of first-come/first-serve sercice access to the following: membership cards, showers, phones, and the computer room

The following shifts are available:

Mondays- 7-9am, 9-11:30am, and 12:30-3pm
Wednesdays- 9-11:30am and 12:30-2pm
Thursdays- 7-9am, 9am-11:30pm, and 12:30-3pm
Fridays- 7-9am, 9-11:30pm, and 12:30-3pm

When you indicate your interest, please let us know which shift(s) would work in your schedule. Please keep in mind that we are seeking volunteers who are willing to make a weekly commitment for at least 3 months.
