On Wednesday, March 1 st, Whole Foods will be donating 5% of all their sales across five Montgomery County stores to Leveling the Playing Field. As part of promoting the partnership, we are going to visit gyms across the county to let families know that they can support LPF by shopping at Whole Foods on March 1st.
Volunteers will be given flyers (need to be picked up at our warehouse: 9170 Brookville Road Silver Spring, MD 20910), and will spend 2 hours distributing them to publicize the 5% Day Partnership. Volunteers can either sign up for the 10am-12pm shift or the 12pm-2pm shift.
Whole Foods will be providing a pizza party at our warehouse at 12pm for any volunteers that help out that day!

Mission Statement
The purpose of Leveling the Playing Field (LTPF) is to give underprivileged children the opportunity to enjoy the pleasure of athletic involvement. LTPF collects donations of sports equipment from various collegiate athletic departments, county recreation departments, families and individual donors from across the nation. Studies show that students who participate in interscholastic athletics have higher grade point averages, attendance rates, standardized test scores, educational aspirations, health habits and feelings of connection and belonging. LTPF recognizes that giving children the prospect of athletics can change their lives!
Description
Leveling the Playing Field works to locate children living under the poverty line who are not being given a equal chance at athletic participation. We recognize the importance sport can play in a child's life. Whether it is simply to bring that child joy within their adverse situation or allowing a child to use sport to learn extremly valubale life skills, sport is vitally important to young people. Once we have identified an area of need, we work within the community to locate various sources of used/excess sporting equipment. We place donation bins, host equipment drives, and reach out to collegiate and professional teams. These tactics not only collect equipment to fill this need but also involves a whole community in a fun community service project.
