The Northside Farmers' Market on Sundays is looking for individuals who are able to help with set-up and take-down of the markets' information booth.
Set-up starts at 7:30am and is completed by 8:30am. This involves bringing equipment loaded on carts from our storage space near the market (in the same parking lot), setting up the tents, tables and chairs and putting out garbage containers and signs at the market.
Take-down starts at 12:30pm and is usually wrapped up by 1:00pm. Take-down involves taking down the information booth set-up, loading everything back up and returning it to the market storage space.
This is physical work and volunteers should be able to push, pull and lift 30-50lbs. Volunteers are encouraged to "cross train" with the Information Booth opportunity as well.
RESTRICTIONS: Instructions will be provided to you when your u help for the first time, but this position is great for self-starters who are able to accomplish tasks with just some basic direction. Ideal candidates would be able to volunteer on a semi-regular basis as opposed to one time.

Description
On Sunday, June 5, 2005, exactly two years and 39 days after the one remaining local supermarket at Sherman Plaza was permanently closed, Madison’s Mayor Dave Cieslewicz joined market organizers, shoppers and musicians to mark the launch of the Northside Farmers Market. On Sundays from May thru October, vendors sell their locally produced foods at Sherman Plaza. In doing so, they ease area community members’ lack of access to fresh, nutritious, and affordable foods.
