About

CAPTAIN's Family Development mentors provide individual guidance to low-income individuals and families who are struggling to become self-sufficient. Mentors work in pairs with folks to help them strengthen the resources in their lives. The mentors gather as a group at a mandatory monthly meeting held at the CAPTAIN offices. The actual mentoring is done on your own time, and you would meet with clients in a public space, such as the CAPTAIN offices or the library.

This volunteer position is crucial to lifting people out of poverty, as it provides the guidance and support that struggling families need. It is a commitment - networking and training happen at the monthly meetings, and a commitment to assisting people on their journey to self-sufficiency requires time.
