HopeLink is looking for knowledgeable, skills-based professional volunteers to present a life skills topic to the clients in our Recovery Academy or CRSP program during Registration Week.

Registration Week occurs quarterly at the Recovery Academies. Registration Weeks are designed to excite new clients to join our Recovery Academy and work on recovery goals. We fill the week with a variety of presentations for HopeLink clients that may teach them skills and tools to cope with everyday life. Topics have included (but are not limited to): Job skills, financial management, dental hygiene, transportation, health & wellness, stress management, social activities, team building and much more.

Volunteers will facilitate an activity on a topic that they are familiar with and comfortable sharing. Interactive topics are preferred, including, but not limited to, activities such as group exercise (yoga, Zumba, etc.), art projects (painting, crafts, etc.), games (such as bingo), meditation or stress management, goal setting, and more! Volunteers can be creative in their activity. Staff can share feedback with volunteers about the planned activity.

Duties

Facilitate an interactive activity to a group of 15-20 adults with mental illness and co-occurring disorders. Center staff will be available during the activity to assist clients and provide technical support. Volunteers will present a topic that will help clients to understand and learn new tools and skills to help them in their everyday life. This person will be flexible, creative, patient, and understand how to present and effectively communicate material to individuals with a variety of cognitive functioning levels.

Qualifications

Proven experience in the topic or field in which the volunteer is presenting.

Availability

Registration Weeks occur every 12 weeks - reach out to confirm the next week! Registration Weeks are Monday to Friday from approximately 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM. Activities will last approximately 45 minutes and will be individually scheduled with program staff based on volunteer availability.
