Rochester Heart Walk & Run needs YOU!

We are looking for approximately 100 volunteers to help us make this event run smoothly. Individuals and groups welcome.

Volunteer opportunities are available Thursday, Friday and Saturday (4/20, 4/21 and 4/22)

Thursday, April 20th we need volunteers in the office willing help with the following:

- Cashiers; count and record incoming donations for pre-registration. Morning and Afternoon help needed.

Friday, April 21st we need volunteers that can help with the following:

  • Driver; Someone able to drive a box truck to do some local supply pick ups in the morning hours.

  • Packers; Volunteers willing to come to our office and storage unit to assist in packing the truck, then unload at Frontier Field. This is during the day - hours to be finalized ASAP.

  • Set up; Assist in setting up tables, chairs, banners, and more in the VIP Lot of Frontier Field.

Saturday, April 22nd, Event Day we need many volunteers to assist with the following:

  • Set-up; Final set-up details morning of.

  • Greeters; Standing along Morrie Silver way to help direct foot traffic to proper registration areas, hand out program/maps

  • Registration; multiple registration areas, assisting walkers, runners, volunteers, vendors, and survivors check in and donation collection.

  • Cash Room; Count and record donations and registration fees that are dropped off to registration. *Prefer bank or other bonded professionals. If not already bonded, must agree to a background check. Volunteers must be willing to be at the event at 6:30am to get ready in the cash room.

  • T-shirt tent; assist $100+ fundraising walkers picking up their earned t-shirts

  • American Heart Association Tent: Assist with questions, hand out materials, sell branded items
  • Red/White Cap Tent; Greet heart and stroke survivors, hand out survivor caps.

  • Health Expo; Assist vendors and attendees in the Health Expo area. Manage participant waiver for anyone wishing to do health screenings.

  • Kid Zone; Assist vendors and attendees with the YMCA sponsored Kids Zone

  • Food/Beverage Tent; Keep snacks and beverages stocked and readily available.

  • Walk/Run Route; 20 Route Marshalls necessary to assist RPD with road blocks and traffic. Set up, clean-up, water stations, and more. Approximately 40 volunteers would be best in thius area... small window of opportunity for set up along Inner Loop
  • Run Registration/Packet Pick up; Assist day of event runners registering for the event, assist runners doing day of event packet pick-up.
  • Clean-up; Help break down tables, chairs, banners. Assist in general clean up of event and pack truck.

Key/Lead Volunteers Needed for all areas... Registration (3), Food Area (2), AHA Tent (1), Walk.Run Route (3+), Volunteer Information (2+), Kid’s Zone (1-2), Health Expo (2), Vendor Assistance (2). more added as needed or if we have more people interested.
