Position Summary: The Family Support Center Front Desk Volunteer is an essential component in the day-to-day operation at the Family Support Center and the welcoming presence to all who enter the front door. The core of this position greets all guests and answers all incoming calls as the face and voice of Catholic Charities.
Examples of Responsibilities (as needed):
- Greet everyone who enter the lobby
- Answer incoming phone calls and transferring to appropriate extension
- Provide community resources to guests seeking help
- Making appropriate referrals to callers seeking assistance
- Reliably attending scheduled shifts
- Knowledge of the calendar of events so to direct people to the correct location
- Reminding visitors/volunteers to sign-in/out
- Accepting In-Kind Donations & generating receipts
- Adhering to Catholic Charities Confidentiality Agreement at all times
- Experience working in a non-profit setting
- Satisfaction of directly supporting the Family Support Center, family shelter
- Develop communication and multi-tasking skills plus interpersonal relationships
- Gain or utilize administrative experience
Required skills, if any:
- Strong ability to multi-task in a continuously changing environment
- Ability to keep calm in a fast-paced environment and remain cool during the slow times
- Ability to sit for long periods of time
- Ability to ask for and identify those who can provide assistance as needed
Desired traits and skills:
- Bilingual skills a plus!
- Microsoft Office computer skills including Word, Google Docs, Google Calendar and Smartsheets
- Research skills
- Knowledgeable of Santa Rosa/Sonoma County Resources and Services
- Experience with a multi-line phone system
