Do you love books? Would you consider adopting some? The Winter Park Public Library is launching a new volunteer program called Adopt-a-Shelf. Adopt-a-Shelf volunteers will choose a section in our collection to keep neat and orderly and ensure that items are in their correct place. It’s a great way to learn more about library organization, discover new authors and topics, and enjoy being a library ambassador.
There will be an information and training meeting for interested Adopt-a-Shelf volunteers on Sunday, March 12 from 2:00pm until 3:30pm.
- Volunteers will be trained in Dewey Decimal System but should have knowledge of how to file items in alphabetical and numerical order.
- Volunteers should be able to commit to a three month "adoption period," for at least 1 hour every 2 weeks.
- Volunteers should be comfortable lifting books and have the ability to reach the top and bottom shelves.
