Seeking volunteers who are fluent in English and Spanish to make phone calls to clients who have lost food stamp benefits and to explain how JVS can help clients meet the state’s new work and education requirements to reinstate benefits. Volunteers will make appointments for Spanish-speaking clients to meet with a JVS career navigator.
Time commitment: Approximately 3 hours per week, flexible schedule. JVS hours are M-F 9-5.
Training and support will be provided
Career Path Now is a recently launched JVS initiative targeting a subset of food stamp recipients who are subject to a monthly work requirement to remain eligible for their monthly benefit. Working in partnership with the MA Department of Transitional Assistance, Career Path Now seeks to identify and enroll these clients into a program that will ensure that they retain their benefits in the short term while connecting them with the education and training that will put them on a path to a job and a career that enables them to achieve self-sufficiency.
