ORGANIZATION: Lutheran Social Service of MN

Children’s Home and LSS invite you to volunteer at our 2017 Adoption Day Camp June 19 th-June 23 rd. This is a fun-filled week for adopted children to connect, build friendships, and explore different adoption-related topics. Each morning will include adoption-specific activities and programming followed by an afternoon of traditional camp activities such as swimming, archery, environmental education, arts and crafts, and more through our partnership with YMCA Camp Streefland.

We are in need of individuals to assist in the morning activities with the children. Below is a description of the positions we are in need of:

Group Assistants

Description: Group assistants will help our staff Group Leaders with leading small groups of campers. This volunteer’s responsibilities are to provide supervision, help facilitate activities, and assist staff leader.

Time Commitment: Monday-Friday June 19 th-23 rd, 8:30-11:30am


Activity Leaders:

Craft Leader-

Description: The craft leaders will be responsible for introducing and explaining the craft project to each group and assisting the children with the project. Some organizing and assembly of materials may be required. All supplies and directions will be provided before camp.

Time Commitment: Monday and Wednesday, 8:30-11:30am

Team Building-

Description: This volunteer will be responsible for explaining and facilitating team building activities to each group of children. Some set up may be required. All supplies and directions will be provided before camp.

Time Commitment: Monday and Wednesday, 8:30-11:30am

Junior Counselor:

Description: Assist camp staff and group leaders in leading a small group of children. Junior Counselors will be with children throughout the entire camp (including during the YMCA portions of the day). They will build relationships with the kids, assist with scheduled activities, and be a positive role model throughout the week.

Time Commitment: Monday-Friday, 8:30-4:00pm

Floater:

Description: These volunteers will step in to provide assistance to any of the areas listed above, as needed.

Time Commitment: Any

Panelist:

Description: We are looking for adult adoptees to be part of a panel to share their story, experiences, and answer questions to parents and camp members.

Time Commitment: TBD
