Texas Homeless Network - Texarkana, TX
Full-time ▲ $990 a month (living allowance) ▲ End of year stipend or education award
Start date: April 24, 2017
Program Details: The Texas Homeless Network (THN) works to provide solutions to end homelessness in Texas communities through education, resources and advocacy. Currently, THN has VISTA members placed throughout the state working on capacity building and program development to assist communities in ending homelessness. This VISTA project will focus on building capacity to support the development of a Coordinated Entry (CE) system to better provide homeless services for Texas communities’ most vulnerable residents. By placing VISTA members in communities across the state, this project will strengthen Texas Homeless Network’s efforts to implement evidence-based practices and end homelessness.
Position Responsibilities: In order to prepare the host community for a sustainable Coordinated Entry program, the AmeriCorps VISTA member will be responsible for implementing projects focused on four distinct categories. These categories are: 1). promoting permanent housing focused solutions to ending homelessness, 2). improving data quality and use in decision making, 3). building strategic partnerships that advance efforts to end homelessness, 4). engaging in special initiatives to end veteran and chronic homelessness. The VISTA member will assess community capacity regarding all of these initiatives, and organize and participate in the implementation of new and enhanced processes to build capacity for a centralized Coordinated Entry system.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. Experience in homeless services, project management, and/or nonprofit organizations.
Benefits: Biweekly living allowance, end-of-service education award or stipend, health allowance (not insurance), professional development, and other benefits, as eligible.
