About

Special Olympics Florida Pasco County is seeking volunteers to help plan and organize Special Olympics Florida events locally, serve on the Management Team and serve as Volunteer Coaches.


Management Team members are needed to help plan local Special Olympics Florida programs including the following roles:

  • Marketing Chairperson
  • Volunteer Chairperson
  • Medical Chairperson
  • Finance Chairperson
  • Athlete Leadreship Chairperson

Management teams meet monthly and much of the volunteering can be done at home. Positions are flexible and work with a committee to help plan local Special Olympics Florida - Pasco events, help recruit volunteers and reach out to atheltes.


Special Olympics Florida -Pasco County has opportunities for coaches and assistant coaches for the following sports

Coaches are the key to a successful sports experience for the Special Olympics athlete. As a coach, you teach sports skills and model good sportsmanship and character. You give Special Olympics athletes the most immediate awareness of their self-worth, ability, courage, and capacity to grow and improve both on the playing field and off. Coaches will be provided training and sports seasons run for 3-4 months.

  • Bocce (February-May)
  • Bowling (September-December)
  • Cycling (February-March)
  • Cheerleading (July - November)
  • Equestrian (February-May)
  • Flag Football (July - November)
  • Golf (June - October)
  • Gymnastics (July - November)
  • Powerlifting (July - November)
  • Soccer (February- May)
  • Softball (July - November)
  • Stand Up Paddle (June - August)
  • Swimming (June - October)
  • Tennis (February-May)

Special Olympics Florida provides year-round sports training and athletic competitions in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. We rely on more than 27,000 volunteers throughout the state each year who serve as coaches, help with events, assist on committees and so much more.
