Concert Helpers Wanted! Are you a fan of live music concerts? Do you like working behind-the-scenes at events? If you answered "yes" then helping out at GGMC’s upcoming concerts in May is for you! Volunteers will help with ticket sales, will call, ticket taking, ushering, passing out programs and clean-up. We will also need volunteers to help at a snack and beverage reception after the Sunday concert around 6 pm. By volunteering you can listen to most of the concert. The concerts will be held at the Mission Dolores Basilica, 3321 16th St at Dolores, San Francisco. Concert dates and start times are

  • Saturday, May 18, 8:00 PM
  • Sunday, May 19, 4:00 PM
Volunteers are needed at least 75-90 minutes before each concert start time. Concert length is typically two hours plus another 10 minutes for cleanup. Total volunteer time is roughly 3.5 hours (two of which are concert).

If you are interested, please contact the GGMC House Manager and let him know at which concert you can help:

About Golden Gate Men's Chorus

Location:

116 Eureka Street, San Francisco, CA 94114, US

Mission Statement

The Golden Gate Men's Chorus is committed to excellence and joyous music-making; providing a supportive and nurturing atmosphere for our members' artistic and social self-expression; and sharing and expanding the rich and continuing tradition of male choral music.

Description

The Golden Gate Men's Chorus (GGMC) is a select group of men representing the ethnic and social diversity of San Francisco, who share a common appreciation of choral music. The GGMC presents spring, summer, and winter programs annually, in addition to guest and community benefit performances throughout the year.

Founded by Dick Kramer in 1982 as the Dick Kramer Gay Men's Chorale, the group reorganized as the Golden Gate Men's Chorus in 1988, and continues its tradition of presenting high quality performances of men's choral music.

The GGMC does not discriminate by age, creed, ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, or any ability other than musicianship. The group encourages non-singing participation from our diverse community in roles which include board membership, concert production, and vocal coaching.

Though the Golden Gate Men's Chorus has its roots in the gay community, membership includes a complement of gay and gay-supportive men. The group represents San Francisco's ethnic and social diversity, with members spanning African American, Chinese, Filipino, Japanese, Latino, Vietnamese, and Western European heritages and spanning age groups from 20's to 70's.
