We at the Cat Adoption Service are looking for some Adoption Counselors for our Saturday shifts (12-2pm or 2-4pm) and our Tuesday shift (6 - 8 pm)
So what does an adoption counselor do? Adoption counselors are scheduled to come to adoption hours ( 2 hour shift) a minimum of twice a month to: 1) Show cats to potential adopters. 2) Adopt cats out. 3) Care for the cats. LOTS OF CLEANING! 4) Play with the cats!
It is a fun job, where you can meet lots of like-minded people who care for cats just as much as you. However, this gig is real work, and you will be expected to do your part in terms of cleaning, observing the health of the cats, and doing customer service work like paperwork and talking with potential cat adopters.
We try to pair two volunteers together during adoption hours, so that there is always back up with you. However, since we are low on people, there may be days when you need to be at the pet store by yourself. Of course, as a new volunteer, we would train you first, and give you a few sessions to be with other more experienced volunteers, to the best of our ability.
If this sounds right for you, please contact us!
We are a small cat rescue group, called the Cat AdopTion Service -CATS-, that adopts cats from county animal shelters in Los Angeles county, where they are on the euthanasia list, and moves them down south to San Diego where they are housed at volunteer foster homes, given medical care, and then adopted out to approved applicants at pet stores like Petsmart and Petco. Every one of us is an unpaid volunteer, and without the help of people like you we would not have the resources to find these cats new homes.
