April is Parkinson's Awareness Month, and we are celebrating in a big way by announcing that last year's MORE TALK! MORE WALK!2-mile fundraiser walk is expanding to include a family-friendly sports tournament on Saturday, April 8th at Baylands Park in Sunnyvale. Don't wait another minute to sign-up!

Bring your family and friends to this event which is open to all ages and abilities. Participants can sign up for a 2-mile Walk, Sports Tournament (flag football, volleyball, kickball), or both! Come listen to great live music by bands Drew Hagus & The DreadNots and Silicon Valley Houserockers. Enjoy a free lunch and learn more about the exciting breakthroughs occurring in our Parkinson's research aimed to close the gap between science and practical care.

To volunteer, go to our event page, www.PDBattleoftheBay.com, and under the menu option "Sign-up" click "Individual." You will have a participation option to be a volunteer. We have suggested set times listed on the website, however we are flexible with your needs.

Team Captain Packets (stuffing bags with T-shirts/fundraising prizes)

Sponsor Booths setup (table, chairs, hanging banners)
First Aid Booth setup (table, chairs, hanging banner)
Food and Beverage Booth setup (table, chairs, hanging banner)
2 Mile Walk direction signs placement

Mission Statement

To seek the cause(s) and find a cure for Parkinson's disease; to provide the best available medical care to patients with movement disorders; to investigate new and more effective diagnostic and treatment methods; and to develop prevention strategies.

Description

The Parkinson's Institute Movement Disorders Research and Treatment Center was established in 1988 as an independent, not-for-profit organization conducting patient care and research activities in the neurological speciality of movement disorders. The Institute is dedicated to furthering the knowledge of Parkinson's disease and related disorders, as well as treating patients (and families) afflicted with these diseases. Funding is obtained from government grants, private giving, research contracts, and patient fees.
