Girls Inc. of the Central Coast is looking for Volunteer Women Mentors
to work with high school girls in our leadership mentoring program.
Beginning next school year June 2017-May 2018
ECHO Leadership Mentoring Program
ECHO is a leadership/mentoring program for high school sophomore and junior girls. The program is designed to encourage these girls to pursue post-secondary education and plan for future careers. The sessions are designed to inspire them to value themselves and their dreams, to develop an action plan to achieve their goals, and to begin seeing themselves as leaders.
This program is designed to:
- Encourage girls to pursue post-secondary education and plan for future careers
- Increase self-empowerment
- Reduce the school drop-out and pregnancy rates among young women
- Promote goal setting
- Increase self-esteem
- Develop leadership skills
- Increase knowledge of women's health
- Increase knowledge on legislative bills
Location where volunteers are needed:
- Alisal High School, Salinas
- Soledad High School, Salinas
- Greenfield High School, Greenfield
- King City High School, King City
- Seaside High School, Seaside
- N. Monterey County High School, Castroville
- San Benito High School, Hollister

Description
Girls Inc. of the Central Coast(r) is an affiliate of Girls Incorporated, a national organization that has been providing programs for girls since 1864 in the United States and Canada. As an affiliate of the national organization, Girls Inc. of the Central Coast is part of a network of girl-serving organizations that deliver innovative, research-based programs designed specifically to address the strengths and needs of girls ages 8 to 18 and to prepare them for economic independence and confident adulthood. Girls Inc. of the Central Coast is a 501(c)(3) organization that has served the Monterey County community since 1999.
Girls Inc. of the Central Coast delivers a constellation of programs focused on leadership and self-empowerment for girls ages 8 to 18. Girls Inc. of the Central Coast (Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz Counties) serves over 1,300 girls in 30 school sites in nine cities.
All programs are conducted after school at school sites, eliminating any difficulties with transportation for the girls and young women. We have established productive working relationships with schools, whos staff assist us with recruiting and program implementation.
