Route Marshals - need at least 75... Do YOU have a firm but pleasant personality? Can YOU cheer on thousands of walkers as they leisurely stroll through the university, yet keep them corralled in clearly marked lanes to ensure their safety? Note: We will have MANY police officers and MANY orange cones to help facilitate this process. If this description sounds like YOU, then please consider volunteering as a Route Marshal!
JOB: Direct the flow of walker "traffic" and cheer for walkers along the 5K (3.1 miles) route.
Greeters -need at least 50... Do YOU have the gift of hospitality? Can YOU make our walkers feel welcome and "at home" from the moment they step out of their car to the moment they get back in? Then become a Greeter today!
JOB: You will be stationed at various points near the park to smile, wave and direct walkers to registration. Once the walk starts, greeters will move to the finish line to cheer the walkers as they cross the finish line. Bring your favorite noisemaker.
Registration- need at least 50... Do YOU have a great smile, like to help people, and possess a Type A (detailed and organized) personality? If you answered "yes, yes, yes", then we need YOU to join our Registration team! Grumpy volunteers need not apply. J
JOB: Greet and register walkers at our registration tent. *This position requires a 45 minute group training prior to the event. If a company recruits 10+ registration volunteers, Society staff will gladly come to your office to train those volunteers.
Set up - need at least 20 to 25... Are YOU a problem solver, an early riser, good at logistics and really to have some fun in the sun? Then this is the job for you!
JOB: You will assist with putting up event route and at oval with set up of tables, chairs, materials, and other duties as directed. Be able to lift potentially heavy boxes and move to areas as directed. Also, have the ability to use ladders, hammers, staple guns, etc.
Clean Up-need at least 30 to 50... Do YOU like things to be tidy and to leave them cleaner than you found them? Are YOU not an early morning person? Then we have a deal for YOU! Sign up to be part of our Clean Up crew and you don’t have to arrive at the crack of dawn!
JOB: Help wrap up the event by breaking down tables, chairs, picking up trash, route breakdown and loading supplies. Some will help with the green team.
Parking- need at least 25... Have YOU ever wanted to be a flight attendant just so you could direct passengers to the exits of the plane? Here’s your chance!!...well sort of. J Sign up for our Parking Crew and you can direct thousands of "passengers" into the correct lane and parking garage.
JOB: You will direct traffic before and after event.
Water Stops -3 stops plus oval; need at least 10 at each... Got thirst? If YOU volunteer at a water stop, our walkers will be able to answer that question with "No. I’m great!"
JOB: Hand water to the walkers on the route and oval.
Banking- need at least 8 to 10 volunteers... Are YOU good with numbers, organized and reliable? Well this is the job for you!
JOB: work with registration to collect and count money donated and pledge forms. Training will be provided the week before the event for these volunteers.
Cheerleaders- 20+ will be needed...We’ve got spirit yes we do, we’ve got spirit how 'bout you!?!?
JOB: Cheer walkers as they start and finish the walk. In addition to possibly being part of the entertainment. Preferably a High School or University cheer squad.
Volunteer Check in- need at least 2 ... Are YOU a natural born leader and and ready to help? This is your job!
JOB: Assist area lead staff with volunteer check in on the morning of the event to ensure proper job assignments/location.
Survivor Activities- need at least 3... Are YOU creative, fun, cheerful and compassionate? You will LOVE this J.O.B.
JOB: Assist with special activities for survivors, family and friends.
Merchandise Sales- need at least 2 or 3 ... Do YOU love to shop? Is spending other people’s money your favorite past time? Does swiping a credit card give you a thrill? Then you won’t be sad you signed up here!
JOB: Assist with T-shirt sales at the event
Team Photo Area- need at least 2 to 3 ... Is your dream to walk on the red carpet someday and do you yearn for the limelight? Then strike a pose there’s nothing to it!!!!!
JOB: assist with the team photo tent at the event. Help keep the lines moving.
