Free Training on September 11, 12, 17 and 18, 2018 at North Central Texas Council of Governments, 616 Six Flags Dr., Arlington, TX 76011 You must attend all 4 days and pass a test to complete your certification.
Benefit Counselors assist older adults by providing information, counseling, assistance and advocacy for their Medicare and other public benefits, entitlements, and legal rights.
No experience is necessary, FREE training is provided. You will learn about:
Medicare
Medicaid
Private Insurance
Social Security Benefits
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programs and other public benefits
Volunteers set their own hours and how they would like to assist their community.
Benefits Counseling with the Area Agency on Aging is part of the Health Information Counseling and Advocacy Program of Texas. Insurance agents, insurance brokers, and financial planners are not eligible to volunteer with the Benefits Counseling Program.

Description
The Agency plans and coordinates services for persons ages 60 and older and their family caregivers who live in the 14 counties surrounding Dallas and Tarrant. Direct services include: information and referral, case management, benefits counseling, legal assistance, ombudsman, money organizer, homemaker, and caregiver education and training.
