Volunteers are vital to the lives of homeless and neglected pets in Durham County.
The Animal Protection Society of Durham is in need of volunteers to walk, socialize, and train our adoptable dogs while they patiently wait for their forever homes. Hours are flexible, with slots offered 7 days per week.
Dog care volunteers will expect to attend a 1-hour general virtual orientation session, followed by a 2 hour dog-specific training session, before they can jump in and get to the fun stuff: the dogs!
Volunteers must be 18 to work independently, however, volunteers 13 - 17 years old can volunteer alongside a parent or guardian for dog walking. Both the child and parent must attend orientation/training.
