Home of the Innocents1100 East Market StreetLouisville, KY40206
Like most school aged kids, many who live at Home of the Innocents, specifically those in our emergency shelter and residential services are in need of volunteers to provide help with basic math and reading skills.
The kids volunteers come in contact with have been removed from their homes due to being a product of neglect, abuse and/or abandonment. Some have been through some very traumatizing situations. They may have some behavioral issues as well as other emotional problems that exist due to the harmful environments they were subjected to prior to coming to the Home. This may make working with the kids a little challenging, however many are in need of help and are quite receptive and quickly take to those that choose to be a part of their lives.
The ages of the children residing at the Home and in need of volunteer help with their studies are primarily teenagers. There are a small group of kids between the ages of 8-12 that could use some help as well.
Volunteer times consist of right after school (4:00 pm) or after dinner (6:30 pm) or on the weekends.
Volunteers must complete an application process, including background check.
