Corporate Engagment
Jumpstart hosts material resource creation events known as "work-parties" to support our preschoolers’ learning in the classroom and at home. These work-parties are held at the offices of Jumpstart’s corporate partners during regular business hours. Hosting a work party is a fun, casual way for colleagues to give back to their communities while accommodating busy schedules.
Jumpstart recognizes that families are children’s first and most important teachers. We seek to involve families in Jumpstart’s work to support their children’s language and literacy development by providing opportunities for families to extend learning from Jumpstart sessions into the home whenever possible. We utilize work parties to create materials for literacy kits and home libraries for families to extend their child’s learning at home.
A literacy kit is a set of activities that are designed to reinforce language and literacy skills children are learning in Jumpstart session. Each kit is filled with fun activities including basic instructions for using these materials in games that family members can play at home. Kits may include bingo games, letter matching boards, picture and word cards, basic writing materials and blank books.

Mission Statement
Jumpstart is a national early education organization working toward the day every child in America enters school prepared to succeed.
Description
Jumpstart aims to close the gap in educational achievement between children from low-income communities and their wealthier peers, before that gap appears. In pursuit of this goal, Jumpstart recruits and trains college students, called Corps members, to help preschool-aged children in low-income neighborhoods develop the language, literacy, and social skills they need to succeed in kindergarten and beyond. Jumpstart inspires children to learn, young adults to teach and lead, families to become more involved in their children’s education, and communities to progress together.
