Unlike traditional pantries, Skyline's food program is modelled as one of the Regional Food Bank's Food Resource Centers. In order to offer patrons a familiar and comfortable experience, the FRC is set up like a grocery store where each household is able to choose their own groceries based on a list of numbered categories.

Because we like to offer patrons and volunteers the smoothest process possible, we are in need of help answering questions and assisting people as they make their choices in the FRC.

The Shopping Assistant position would involve being available to actively help patrons through the aisles by answering questions, guiding them through, and making sure they choose the right amount of items according to their shopping lists. Some patrons, especially the elderly or those who can't see/read very well, might request someone accompany them through the whole "shopping" process.

It would be very helpful to our mission of restoring dignity to lives to have someone available to do so, in order to assure patrons have the easiest, most pleasant experience going through.

Bilingual volunteers are a bonus!

The Food Resource Center is open during these hours, but volunteers are welcome to come before/after to help stock and organize.
