The Detroit Zoo has a variety of exciting ongoing volunteer opportunities for you. Volunteers assist by answering questions about the Zoo's resident animal population, giving directions and helping with special events. Scheduling is flexible. Training is provided. There are 13 different assignments for adults 18 years and older and 2 different assignments for teens 14 years and older. Some volunteer assignments require as little as 20 hours per year commitment, most require around 50 hours. Volunteers receive free admission and parking to the Detroit Zoo.

The mission of the Detroit Zoological Society's Volunteer Services department is to provide a dedicated, trained volunteer corps of people who bring unique skills, love of nature and concern for the environment. Through meaningful educational activities, dialog and special events, the volunteers help advocate the Zoological Society's mission: "Celebrating and Saving Wildlife."

Description

The Detroit Zoological Society is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that operates the Detroit Zoo and Belle Isle Nature Zoo. Situated on 125 acres of naturalistic exhibits, the Detroit Zoo is located at the intersection of 10 Mile Road and Woodward Avenue, just off I-696, in Royal Oak, Michigan.
