About

Children at the Simi Valley Public Library love reading their favorite book to dogs! "Waggin Tales" on Wednesday afternoons and evenings is intended to help children improve their reading skills by providing a nonjudgmental environment. These programs are located in the children’s room and overseen by library staff. Extreme popularity means we need to expand our pool of volunteers.

We are looking for volunteers for Wednesdays (year-round), 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm. You may have either a set schedule of once or twice a month, or be part of the substitute "litter". The dogs and their handlers must be licensed with either Therapy Dogs International or Love on a Leash and meet with the program’s coordinator. All adult library volunteers must also successfully complete a background check.
