Position Overview: Are you excited about technology? Do you have a passion for teaching? This is an opportunity to assist adults in improving their basic computer skills while also encouraging them to develop a broader comfort with technology. The goal of the weekly Rocklin Library computer class is to allow individuals to improve their computer skills and increase their knowledge of modern technology in a safe and casual small group environment. The classes are learner-driven, emphasize hands-on computer use, and encourage frequent questions. The class is held every Friday from 9 - 10 am.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a weekly computer class (with a maximum of 6 adults) at the Rocklin Library
- Track learner participation by submitting weekly sign-in sheets with participant names and demographic information
- Attend training and coordinate with literacy staff to better aid your learners
Qualifications:
- Must have a strong knowledge of basic technology and computer skills, including: Microsoft Office, E-mail basics, Internet basics, and Google applications (Gmail, Google Drive)
- Must possess patience, flexibility, dependability, and excellent oral communication skills
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English proficiently and clearly
- Livescan Fingerprint clearance is required
- Age 18 or older
- Teaching experience a plus, but not required
Training Provided:
- 1-on-1 Training Session on Computer Class Protocols
- Individual assistance from literacy staff is available
