The Volunteer coordinator will process and orient new volunteers, coordinate the schedule of volunteers, secure appropriate coverage for each shift and communicate policies and procedures, changes and any other information to the volunteers. Will maintain a phone list of active volunteers and will communicate with shelter manager and BOD members regarding the needs of coverage and volunteers. Volunteer coordinator may have direct animal contact.

The Meriden Humane Society is a "No Kill", Non Profit, privately run animal shelter located in Meriden,Ct. Our Mission : We believe it is our responsibility to protect and improve the lives of abused, abandoned, and homeless cats and dogs, and to place them in loving permanent homes. We provide spay and neuter services and any and all necessary medical care for pets. We work diligently to educate the public on the importance of pet sterilization, responsible pet ownership, Disease control, as well as the Humane Treatment of Animals. The Meriden Humane Society has been a "No Kill" animal shelter since 1836. We are a private non profit organization and are not affiliated with any other Humane Society or rescue organization. We are funded by the generous people who believe that "Life Matters".

Description

The Meriden Humane Society is a no kill privately run animal shelter located in Meriden,CT. We have up to 65 cats and 15 dogs at any given time.

We believe it is our moral responsibility to protect and improve the lives of abused, abandoned, and homeless cats and dogs, and to place them in loving, permanent homes.

We work directly with high kill pounds, cruelty investigations as well as private citizens that can no longer care for their animals.

We are supported by patrons and residents who donate to our facility.

In addition to processing adoptions and caring for our animals, we have several programs available to the residents of Meriden, and the surrounding towns.

A trap neuter and release program.

A monthly feeding program for those who need assistance with food for their animals.

There are many opportunities for volunteers, and teen volunteers and groups are welcome!
