About

Looking for a fun volunteering adventure? Retired and looking for a useful way to get involved? Come experience the excitement of running a real two-foot gauge train. Join the volunteer crew on the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad (MNGRR). MNGRR volunteers operate the trains and share Maine’s unique railroad history with visitors from around the world. We will train you to become a trainman, conductor and even an engineer. Open daily from May through October, and seasonally for special events, the museum draws over 41,000 visitors a year, with volunteers donating over 10,000 hours annually. 2017 is our 25 th year running the train along beautiful Casco Bay in Portland. Come celebrate with us by joining our team! We provide parking and all the necessary training. Volunteers should be physically able, and commit to a full day of service (9 am-4 pm.)
