Live theatre can jumpstart the imagination, lengthen a child’s attention span and connect to the importance of reading. A play has the ability to jump a story off the page and bring it to life. This can be a revelation to regular bookworms, but also a real benefit to reluctant readers. Children often relate to "what’s happening on stage" which makes the stage very similar, in a way, to the play acting and role playing all children do. This November, the students at Kernersville Elementary School will attend a "live" theatre production. Donations and grants help support the cost of each child attending the production AND, as an added bonus, each student will receive their very own age appropriate copy of the book.
We need someone that can lead this yearly project as an organizer and to lead fundraising efforts in relation to the project. A committee of dedicated volunteers is already in place to help with the implementation. All we need is you!
