For the first time in the program's 36 year history, the Annual USAD National Competition is being held in Madison, WI. High School students from across the US, British Columbia, China and the UK, will compete for individual and team awards in art, economics, essay, interview, literature, math, music, science, social science and speech.

Volunteers are needed as judges and timers for speech and interview on April 20 from 12:45-7:00 PM.

Test Proctors are needed from 6:15 AM - 12:15 PM and from 12:30 - 4:30 PM on April 21.

Training and guidelines are provided.

Mission Statement

Wisconsin Academic Decathlon (WIAD) strives to provide a unique educational opportuntity, for students with varying scholastic abilities, to experience the challenges and rewards of rigorous team and invidual competition.

Description

WIAD is a statewide scholastic program for high school students initiated to develop knowledge-based skills that trains students to:

-Become better prepared to further their education and become a part of the business community.

-Challenge the students to push themselves beyond what they thought academically possible.

-Reward the heroes of the academic arena, encouraging the "C" students to excel beyond their current acheivement level, and teaching all students that they have strengths they can contribute to the team.

-Stretch minds to reach new heights in academic and social learning.

WI runs three competitions annually, where registered high school teams compete in art, econ, essay, interview, lang. & lit., math, music, social science, science and speech.
