Drop-in volunteer hours 1st and 3rd Friday of the Month 9-noon
Active gardening tasks:
- Planting
- Weeding
- Watering
- Harvesting
Patient outreach in our clinic lobbies during food distribution (~1pm after harvest)
If the drop-in volunteer hours do not work for you we can set up an orientation day. After which you can schedule your own time in the garden.

Besides the measured benefit of producing pounds and pounds of fresh food to give to the community, the community gardens located in Fortuna, Eureka, and Willow Creek provide us with so much more that cannot necessarily be quantified. Gardening relieves stress and anxiety, promotes physical activity, gets neighbors together beautifying their neighborhoods, and empowers all who take part in growing their own healthy food. Gardens help their communities and gardens need their community’s help. The Open Door Community Health and Wellness Gardens function because of community support and involvement; join the fun by volunteering and enjoy all the benefits the Open Door Health and Wellness Gardens provide!
