SAY San Diego

Purpose:

Play 4 SAY is an annual SAY San Diego event in which participants compete in a lawn games tournament while raising money and awareness for our organization. Your help on this committee will help us accomplish a fun and successful event.

The Donation Chairs lead procurement efforts for food, opportunity drawing items, and silent auction items. You recognize sponsorable elements of the event and think creatively. You have the gift of getting something for nothing, and know that a little charm goes a long way.

Location:

SAY San Diego (Aero Location)/Kearny Mesa

Start Date - End Date:

February 15 th 2017 through August 2017

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procuring items for the auction & drawing.

  • Procuring donations of time and product from restaurants for the food samplings.

  • Mentoring other committee members as they ask their contacts for donations.

  • Communicating with the Resource Development team to keep them appraised of all gathered and promised items.

  • Assisting in organizing, preparing, and displaying items for silent auction and opportunity drawing.

All committee members are expected to:

  • Attend our monthly meetings.

  • Contribute to productive discussion.

  • Work with fellow committee members to accomplish necessary tasks.

  • Attend or volunteer at the event.

All members are expected to share Play 4 SAY opportunities-including sponsorships, in-kind donation needs, team participation, and spectatorship-with their network of friends and colleagues. You will act as support for, and be supported by the SAY San Diego Resource Development staff.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess:

  • Networking skills, including the ability to connect.

  • Persistence and creative problem solving skills.

  • Ability to communicate a passion for SAY San Diego’s mission and the benefits of donation.

  • Knowledge of SAY San Diego and/or experience in non-profit advancement.

Other Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • Must have reliable transportation

Time Committment:

~Monthly meetings from February through August, 2017.

  • First meeting is set for February 15, 4:00pm-5:30 p.m.

  • All other meetings will be 4-5:30 p.m. on the 2 nd Wednesday of each month.

~Additional meetings as we near the event date (July 27).

~Time outside of meetings accomplishing the tasks of your specific position.
