Habitat for Humanity runs two Critical Home Repair programs that we use to try to keep people in their homes. For one of them, we have partnered with Home Depot Foundation to serve veterans. The other program is need-based.
Primarily on Wednesdays, we take highly skilled volunteers to complete these projects. Our work often involves patching holes in walls and ceilings, installing storm doors, waterproofing, mold remediation, porch repairs or construction, installing CO monitors, and fixing downspouts. All of our work is related to safety, quality of living, meeting code, or, occasionally, preventative maintenence.
When not working on a home repair, we prepare for the volunteers coming the rest of the week and continue work on our rehab projects.
