Oakland School Volunteers

United for Success is a small school on 35th Avenue designed by parents, students, teachers and community members who wanted a safe, caring and high-achieving middle school in the heart of the Fruitvale district. We currently have 400 students in grades 6-8. We offer individual attention to students to accelerate their academic progress.

Students receive timely help when they have difficulty with their work. The comprehensive after-school program offers academic support, arts, dance, technology and sports. Our strong advisor system helps students reach challenging personal goals and develop the skills to be prepared for high school, college and life. Students are active as ambassadors, conflict managers, leaders, and school helpers.

We need you to become a part of this community by supporting students when they are having difficulty. Volunteering just one hour once a week can make a huge different in their academic career!

Mission Statement

The Oakland Public Education Fund leads the development and investment of community resources in Oakland public schools so that all students can learn, grow, and thrive.

Description

The Ed Fund is the only organization raising money for all Oakland public schools. Since 2003, we have raised more than $50 million for programs that help students thrive. We put the right tools in students’ hands to give all kids the excellent education they deserve.

We support all Oakland public schools-both District-run and charter-with a focus on those furthest from opportunity, because kids who come to school with less need more.

The Ed Fund builds partnerships that make our schools stronger. Whether it’s finding a funder for a big District project or a bringing a group of volunteers to a school to read with kids, we are committed to connecting the wider community to our public schools. Put simply, we feel our public schools are better when we all work together.
