ORGANIZATION: BROOKLYN MULTI-SERVICE COMMUNITY CENTER

The community and Brooklyn Public Library needs you. If you are a leader, having leadership experience, and canwork with minimal supervision, becoming an executive on our Friends Group Board will be excellent for you.

STATUS

Instructors create their schedule, but must work for approximately 2 hours per week, unless told otherwise

Position Description:

Instructors are creative, crafty, or have a specific niche. They will work alongside BkMSCC staff members to help create tasks and assist in programing.

UPDATED DUTIES:
Create video doing tasks prior to viewing

Past Specific duties MAY include, but are not limited to:

* Participate in instructor meetings and training sessions. * Work closely with the Youth Programs assistant director to understand the process of program planning. * Develop an itinerary/ lesson plan that involves hands-on/minds-on learning. * Instruct session in a student-centered environment while ensuring participant safety and well-being. * Submit all paperwork in a timely fashion (itinerary, budget, supply requests, and incident/injury reports). * Read, review, and follow guidelines outlined in the Instructor Handbook. * Enjoy working with students of ALL ages who are excited and interested in learning. * Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that is successful in getting along with students, staff, partnering organizations, parents, and the public. * Data entry, volunteer hours tracking * Photographing sessions * Class promotion * organization * Strong communication skills (verbal and written). * Strong attention to detail. * Able to listen and communicate effectively with students of diverse backgrounds. * Dependable and punctual. * Self-directed and willing to take initiative. * Computer literate (familiar with Microsoft Office suite, google docs)

ACADEMIC CREDIT ~ COURT MANDATED

If intern wishes to receive academic credit for the internship, it will be the intern’s responsibility to make arrangements with his or her school. Court required volunteering is okay also. BkMSCC will provide the necessary job description and performance review upon request.

We accept volunteers of all ages, if you are under 13 a parent or guardian must accompany you . If you are in an internship or HRA program, please specify. We are willing to fill out any paperwork, it is your responsibility to keep in contact with your program (if you have one). With on-going commitment we are willing to write letters of recommendations and/ or give out achievement certificates at our discretio.
