We are in need of volunteers to help this organization to be able to contunie to providing cultural activities, educational, fundraising, and environmental recourses that EDCIC offers to the community.

We all so need volunteers to help us bring back the Festival of Americans Pow Wow we co-sponsors with Title VII Amador/El Dorado Counties Foothill Indian Education Alliance.

It’s been many year's since the last POW WOW in El Dorado County but, we would like to bring it back the 2 day event back the community.

To Provide A Voice For All Native American Indians Living In El Dorado County!

Description

The El Dorado County Indian Council, Inc. is a non-profit organization incorporated under the non-profit laws of the State of California on May 15, 1975.

Council Information

EDCIC, Inc. is an inter-tribal group whose goal is to promote Native American culture and traditions through the preservation and protection of pre historic cultural sites and resources.

  • The Council started in the 1960’s as Native American people joining together to face social, cultural, and political issues in El Dorado County. Meetings were held in founding members homes until the non-profit status was established in 1975.
  • Council members include Native artists, elders, and cultural experts who currently provide cultural demonstrations, and presentations.
  • EDCIC, Inc. continues to work with the U.S. Forest Service and archeological resources to protect sacred land sites in and around El Dorado County.
  • The Council also maintains a Native American Scholarship Fund and provides annual grants for Native students living in El Dorado County.
