Join the Green Kirkland Partnership to help with the restoration of the forest at Crestwoods Park. Volunteers will spend the afternoon participating in restoration activities that may include removing invasive plants like English ivy and Himalayan blackberry, applying mulch, and planting native trees, shrubs and ground covers. No experience is necessary and we encourage volunteers of all ages to join us! This event will be led by a volunteer Green Kirkland Steward.

Where to meet: We meet at the wooden kiosk that marks the northern entrance to the natural areas--look for the Green Kirkland signs.

What to Bring: Please dress for the weather (layers are encouraged and rain gear is a must most times of year), wear close-toed shoes and clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. Bring a filled water bottle and snacks to munch on. Tools and training will be provided.

Parking is available in the parking lot and along the street.

Youth Volunteering Volunteers age 14-17 attending the event without a parent or guardian must bring a waiver signed by a parent or guardian to the event with them. Download the Green Kirkland Youth Volunteer Waiver. Volunteers under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Achieving this involves training and supporting volunteers in restoration activities.

Description

The Green Kirkland Partnership is an alliance between the City of Kirkland, nonprofit partners, businesses and the community to restore almost 500 acres of natural parkland in the City. The majority of the restoration efforts are accomplished by our dedicated volunteers. These volunteers may join us just one time or volunteer again and again. It takes everyone to restore our natural areas!
