VOLUNTEER POSITION: Volunteer Website Coordinator
The Starfish Foundation is seeking a Website Coordinator to maintain and update Starfish's website. The Coordinator will work on a variety of projects including layout redesign, updates to text, photo uploads, etc. They will work closely with the US and Ecuador Directors. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone with web development experience who would like to support Ecuadorian youth on the path to a better future!
WHERE: FLEXIBLE. The Starfish Foundation’s U.S. operations are based in Baltimore, MD but location of the volunteer is flexible. If outside of Baltimore regular phone and email communication with the directors will be expected.
VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITITES:
- Develop a deep understanding of the mission, vision, values and goals of The Starfish Foundation
- Update the website as necessary.
- Upload photos and other materials as necessary.
- Redesign the Starfish website layout.
- Assist in adding new pages or information to the site.
- Collaborate with the US Director on improving the site as needed.
SKILLS NEEDED:
- A passion for education and youth in Latin America
- Experience with web design (required).
- Experience with Wordpress, Wix, or Squarespace (preferred).
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Excellent communication skills
- Creative problem solving skills
WORKING HOURS: Working hours and goals will be set up based on individual tasks. On average the coordinators can expect to volunteer 1-3 hours/week.
DURATION OF POSITION: This is a year-round position, ideally with a commitment of 6-12 months to start, with the option of continuing at the discretion of the volunteer and Starfish. Please note: applications for are due March 3rd.

Description
The Starfish Foundation coordinates three main programs in Flor de Bastión in Guayaquil, Ecuador: scholarship, tutoring and leadership development. The Starfish Foundation distributes scholarships in the form of all books, uniforms and materials required by the school. Students earn their scholarship based on participation in our tutoring program, motivation to study and economic need. All Scholarship students participate in tutoring. Other students from the neighborhood are also invited to participate in tutoring to receive academic help and have the chance to earn a scholarship for the following year. All of our students, to demonstrate their commitment to their studies as well as their social commitment to their community, participate in community service and leadership development workshops.
