Technology Assistant Volunteer (Bilingual) Spanish/English

As technology continues to advance, so does the digital divide. We are seeking a motivated volunteer who wishes to serve their community through basic technology assistance. Our library computer system is set up in both Spanish and English therefore having a volunteer who is fluent in both languages is prefered but not required.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of PCs and Internet, as well as familiarity with basics of saving and printing materials
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Publisher
- Able to surf the web and search engines
- Familiarity with various technology devices (IPad, IPhone, Kindle tablet, etc...)
- Ability to teach someone to use a device or program on their own
Responsibilities:
- Assist patrons one-on-one with tasks such as: logging onto the computers, Microsoft Office, printing, resume formatting, internet searching and email services
- Practice confidentiality and be sensitive to library users delicate information
- Limit technology services provided to users to those specified by branch manager or supervisor
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons as well as Saturday mornings are the buisiest times that a technology volunteer is needed. If your availability fits somewhere within those time frames, please email MCFLvolunteer@co.monterey.ca.us and we will set you up with an application.
