Volunteers are needed to help make PurpleStride NYC 2017 a success! PurpleStride is a family-friendly 5K run/walk which will be held on April 8, 2017, at Prospect Park in Brooklyn. The success of this event relies on volunteers like YOU! We need volunteers to support in the following areas:

- General Volunteers -- 150+ volunteers needed to help on event day with setup, breakdown, guides on the route, moralers, and more! The date of the event is April 8, 2017, at Prospect Park.

- Food & Beverage Committee -- 3 volunteers needed to do outreach and secure food and beverage donations for the event during the months of Februrary and March.

- Entertainment Committee -- 3 volunteers needed to plan music, kid zone, photography, photo booth during the months of February and March. Open to other ideas!

- Survivor/VIP Tent -- 1 volunteer needed to communicate with our survivors throughout February and March, and ensure that they attend the 5K. Ideally this volunteer will also attend the vent and help make our survivors and VIPs feel welcomed and supported.

- Media Committee -- 5 volunteers needed to assist Media Relations Chair Lin Sun with outreach for print, social media, TV, and more to raise awareness of the 5K run/walk through February and March.

This year, in communities across the country, tens of thousands of people will participate in one of over fifty PurpleStride events. These events range in size from brief walks to longer timed-runs, but they all share one common goal - to end pancreatic cancer.

PurpleStride events raise awareness about the critical mission of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, and give local residents the opportunity to help make strides toward a better future. The events also contribute millions of dollars toward our mission to advance research, support patients and create hope. Funds raised help provide personalized support for patients and support research grants and advocacy efforts to increase federal pancreatic cancer research funding.

For participants, it is a journey toward hope that is filled with inspiration. It is a time to honor loved ones fighting pancreatic cancer. It is a day when all of the family and friends of pancreatic cancer patients can come together in solidarity and gain both comfort and encouragement.

Mission Statement

The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is a nationwide network of people dedicated to working together to advance research, support patients and create hope for those affected by pancreatic cancer.

Description

The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is the only national organization creating hope in a comprehensive way through research, patient support, community outreach and advocacy for a cure. The organization raises money for direct private funding of research--and advocates for more aggressive federal research funding of medical breakthroughs in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer.

The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network fills the void of information and options by giving patients and caregivers reliable, personalized information they need to make informed decisions. We create a sense of hope and community so no one has to face pancreatic cancer alone. The organization helps support individuals and communities all across the country work together to raise awareness and funds to find a cure for pancreatic cancer.
