Purpose: The Jesse Tree of Idaho offers one time rent assistance and case management to clients in an effort to prevent homelessness. The position of Intake Worker is most often the first contact with the client. The Intake Worker explains The Jesse Tree of Idaho’s criteria to callers/walk-ins and completes initial screening with clients to determine if they are eligible to make an application for assistance.

Reports to:The social worker in the office the day he/she works

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer phones
  • Explain the rental assistance program to potential clients
  • Screen potential clients for eligibility; by phone or in-person
  • Determine if initial criteria is met for client to complete an application
  • Give directions of items needed for the application
  • Assist clients with completing application when they come into the office
  • Makes copies of the application attachments for the client
  • Make referrals to community resources
  • Make follow up phone calls as requested
  • Maintain confidentiality of information

Expected Commitment:

  • Every Monday
  • Be able to commite volunteering for at least 6 months

  • Ongoing Staff Meetings to increase knowledge of resources

Age Requirement:

  • 18 years or older
